"Ta-ra-ra Boom-de-ay" is a Vaudeville and music hall song from the 1880s. The can-can and this song were rather scandalous in their time. It was danced in an 1881 revue named "Tuxedo" in Boston, Massachusetts. A dancer named Lottie Collins popularized the song in English and French music halls. Something amusing is that you can also hear Ta Ra Ra Boom De Ay in old episodes of the 1950s United States television show "Howdy Doody," a super popular children's show.
